Although the effluent filter is a required component of a newly constructed septic system, it is possible in most cases to put this feature on an old system and therefore effectively double the life expectancy of the field. Here is a picture of a Stainless Steel Effluent Filter held by my good friend Stan Prior which was developed by Turtle Tanks in the mid nineties.
